Keep Local Farms Celebrates Food Day

If you're in Rhode Island, mark your calendar and visit the dairy aisle at your local Shaw's on October 22nd and October 23rd. In honor of National Food Day, Shaw's is offering customers the opportunity to watch a healthy cooking demonstration followed by a sampling of a delicious smoothie made with Rhody Fresh milk. There may even be surprise appearances from dairy farmers who can answer your questions about Rhode Island dairy farming and talk about the importance of local agriculture.

Making a Difference One Milkshake at a Time

This summer, in addition to scooping up delicious ice cream, select Vermont and Boston-area Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops also contributed $1 for every milkshake sold in June and July to Keep Local Farms. The $4,000 raised will be used to support New England dairy farms and the local, fresh milk and dairy products they provide to our region. Making a difference never tasted so sweet! You can learn how to show your support for Keep Local Farms by visiting the Get Involved tab at KeepLocalFarms.org.

From Farm to You: The Story of Milk

At Keep Local Farms, we love to connect our friends with our farmers. That's why we created an educational video called "From Farm to You: The Story of Milk." The video features New England dairy farmers Bob & Jim Jacquier of Laurelbrook Farm in East Cannan, CT; Jeremy Russo of Southwind Farm in North Rupert, VT; Ed MacGlaflin of MacGlaflin Farm in Claremont, NH; and Chris & Laura Ziemba of Broadlawn Farm in Adams, MA. Step inside the world of dairy farming as these farmers share their stories about producing fresh, great tasting, local milk. Visit our homepage and watch our Featured Video to learn about how milk gets from the farm to you.
