About Us

The Keep Local Farms program was developed by concerned local leaders in New England, all of whom work for the benefit of local dairy farms. Our founding partners include:

Vermont Dairy Promotion Council

The Vermont Dairy Promotion Council is a dairy farmer driven organization formed by Vermont State Statute to plan and conduct dairy advertising, publicity, sales promotion, research and educational projects to increase the consumption of dairy products and to foster better understanding and more efficient cooperation between dairy farmers, dealers and consumers of dairy products. Each dairy farmer in Vermont contributes $0.10 per every 100 pounds of milk produced, or $0.0086 per gallon. The council is governed by dairy farmers who choose the projects to be funded. The Vermont Dairy Promotion Council funded research in 2007 and 2008 for the Keep Local Farms project. In 2009, the Vermont Dairy Promotion Council provided funding to promote the Keep Local Farms program.

New England Dairy Promotion Board

New England Dairy Promotion Board (NEDPB) is a not-for-profit (IRS 501c6) marketing and promotion company. On behalf of the New England Dairy Farms, our purpose is to drive increased sales and demand for dairy products and ingredients. NEDPB works proactively and in partnership with leaders and innovators to increase and apply knowledge that leverages opportunities to increase dairy volume. New England Dairy Promotion Board is governed by dairy farmers from throughout New England and Eastern New York. New England Dairy Promotion Board staff work to coordinate the marketing of the Keep Local Farms program to interested retailers, colleges, businesses and organizations on behalf of New England Dairy Farms.

New England Family Dairy Farms Cooperative

New England Family Dairy Farms Cooperative (NEFDFC) was formed in 2005 with a goal of making farmers economically sustainable. NEFDFC is a cooperative and is governed by a 12-member farmer board of directors from each of the New England states. New England Family Dairy Farms Cooperative has worked with over 200 affinity groups connected to dairy farmers and their land to form the basis of the Keep Local Farms Program. NEFDFC is responsible for the organization, auditing and transparency of the collection and distribution of funds to dairy farmers through the Keep Local Farms program.
