Hytone Farm, CT
Greg Peracchio is a fourth generation dairy farmer in Coventry, Connecticut. The Hytone Farm started in 1944 with just a few cows and now has more than 150 Holstein cows. Greg has been farming his entire life and was taught how to care for the land and animals by his father. He currently works the farm with his father, Bill, and uncle, Tom. The family grows nearly 350 acres of corn and grass for feed for their cows. In addition to selling milk they also sell some top soil, manure, hay and straw to local community members.
The Peracchio family belongs to the Agri-Mark Cooperative and sells their milk under The Farmer’s Cow label. A few times each year the family opens the farm up for tours, allowing people to reconnect with where their food comes from and how it is produced. Greg enjoys dairy farming in Connecticut and looks forward to continuing the family tradition of producing quality dairy products for years to come.
